The Enchanted Bear
On Świetojańska Street by the main stairs to Jesuits church, there is a little statue depicting a bear. However, it is not an ordinary sculpture but the enchanted prince.
There was a prince of Mazovia whose nickname was the Bear due to his supernatural strength and ugliness. The prince fell in love with a beautiful girl but was to ashamed to confess his feelings. He finally mustered up the courage and arrived at the church where the girl always prayed. Ready to talk to her, he found her wearing a wedding gown by the side of a handsome man. The Prince was so desperate that his heart broke into million pieces and he turned into the statue of the bear. He is still waiting for a right girl who will love him unconditionally. It is believed that when his true love appears, the Prince will get back to his human form.
